  • We want to become Poland’s premier Football Academy, dedicated to empowering every graduate to achieve success both on and off the field
Publication date: 18.01.2025

We would like to inform you that on January 1, 2025, the merger of the Polonia Warsaw Academy and the MKS Polonia Warsaw Football Academy took place, we received an official resolution from the Polish Football Association on this matter on 17.01.2025. This step aims to create an even stronger and more integrated structure that will foster the development of young players and support their sporting path. All leading and financially healthy football clubs from the Ekstraklasa and 1. Leagues have strong academies. A strong academy will allow us to build a stronger club.

Why did we decide to merge the two Academies?

  1. Stronger brand of Polonia Warsaw: The merger is a step towards building a unified and recognizable brand that will combine the rich tradition of Polonia with a modern approach to sport and management of the Academy. So far, separate marketing activities, not coordinated between MKS and the Club. Various logos, websites, social media, could cause communication chaos for parents and juniors
  2. More opportunities for players: Integration will allow for greater development of young talents within a uniform structure, giving the opportunity to move to higher levels of competition, including training and joining the ranks of the first team of Polonia Warsaw. MKS and Polonia Warsaw have been two separate clubs so far. Players could not play, for example, one weekend in CLJ, and the next weekend in the first or second team. Ultimately, the most talented players of CLJ U19 and U17 should regularly play in the Reserve Team.
  3. Financial stability and development: Our goal is to provide a solid financial and organizational foundation, which translates into greater development prospects for the entire club community. So far, the club has achieved low inflows of funds to the Club from the Pro Junior System (PJS) program. MKS players who went to Polonia Warsaw have not been treated as “alumni” of our club so far. Thanks to the merger, there is no need to finance transfers from the Academy to the Reserve team and the First Team. Academy players are a lower cost for the club than players acquired from external transfers. The club’s alumni also allow them to generate income from their future transfers In addition, Polonia Warsaw each time had to pay MKS equivalents for the transfer of players of this club to the First Team.
  4. Cooperation with the City and Active Warsaw – So far, two separate entities have reported the need to rent pitches and applications for subsidies. Thanks to the merger, we will have a stronger negotiating position as a unified organization in the topics of training bases, a new stadium, the construction of a new training center, subsidies, etc.

ACADEMY MISSION:
To become Poland’s premier Football Academy, dedicated to empowering every graduate to achieve success both on and off the field.

Due to the dynamic organizational development of the Academy, we are counting on the support of the City of Warsaw.

Benefits of cooperation with the Club and the Academy for the Capital City of Warsaw and its citizens:

  1. Youth development: we provide structured training programs for young athletes, helping them develop their skills and potentially continue their professional careers in the first team. The most talented pupils bring recognition to the entire city.
  2. Social and emotional development: Participating in sports helps children develop important social skills such as teamwork, competition, and communication. It also provides a sense of belonging and can improve self-esteem.
  3. Economic impact: The Academy contributes to the development of the local economy by creating jobs for the residents of Warsaw, generating income and revenues from taxes and rental of training space to local authorities.
  4. Health and fitness: By promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, we contribute to improving the overall health and well-being of Warsaw residents
  5. Education and personal development: thanks to our cooperation with schools with a sports profile (e.g.
    1. LXII High School of the General Lieutenant Władysław Anders Sports Championship) offer educational programs and opportunities for personal development, preparing young athletes for life outside of football as well.
  6. Improving Warsaw’s image: A successful football club strengthens the city’s reputation and visibility. Popular matches and tournaments attract media attention, presenting the city to a wide audience. Our teams play in the Central Junior League on a daily basis, competing with other best academies throughout Poland.
  7. Cultural exchange: Polonia Warsaw acts as ambassadors of culture, while promoting the city’s values through its activities. As a club, we fight to promote our mission and values. Our mission is: “We are Czarni Kulturalni – our mission is to build the most friendly, open, smiling and positive club in Poland – let’s build it together!”

In exchange for the above activities on the part of the Club, we ask for support from representatives of the authorities of the Capital City of Warsaw in the following matters:

  1. Renovation of the training side pitch, the so-called “Sahara”

The current condition of the side training pitch at 6 Konwiktorska Street (the so-called “Sahara”) has a negative impact on the training capabilities of the players of the second team and 500 juniors of the Academy who train on the side pitch on a daily basis. The turf on the side pitch has not undergone a full-fledged renovation for 5 years. In addition, the side pitch requires replacement of lighting around the pitch. As a Club, we have submitted an application to the relevant authorities of the Capital City of Warsaw regarding the renovation of the side pitch – we will be grateful for a positive consideration as soon as possible to provide our juniors with comfortable and even safer conditions for training.

  • Announcement of a competition for obtaining a concession for the development of the land for the construction of a training center

In order to further develop the sports of both the first team and the Football Academy, Polonia Warsaw needs an area where the Club could build its own training base (at least 3 pitches, locker rooms for players, sanitary facilities, etc.). As a Club, we are ready to undertake to finance this investment on our own, taking into account subsidies from the Ministry of Sport and Recreation. We asked representatives of the City of Warsaw whether Polonia Warsaw will receive a concession to use a plot located in the City of Warsaw for the construction of its own training center. We will be grateful if we announce a competition as soon as possible, in which we will submit our offer as a club.

  • Construction of a new stadium of Polonia Warszawa

The current poor condition of the infrastructure also means that the facility of Polonia Warszawa has limited possibilities of attracting and developing talented athletes and creating a suitable space for meetings of the capital’s residents and tourists. The current stadium is also not a showcase of Warsaw in the eyes of guest teams from other cities, who play matches not only with the first team of Polonia in the 1. League, but also youth teams playing matches on the side pitch.

Po ogłoszeniu pozwolenia na budowę nowego Stadionu przy ul. Konwiktorskiej 6, kolejnym ważnym etapem z punktu widzenia Klubu oraz mieszkańców Warszawy jest opublikowanie przez organy miasta a detailed specification of the conditions for the implementation of the project and an invitation to tender.  The club’s comment on the issuance of the building permit along with the letter is available HERE
