In the 15th round of the Fortuna 1. Liga, we traveled to Łęczna to face the local team, Górnik. The match concluded in a goalless draw, although there was no shortage of emotions on both sides. It should be considered a well-deserved division of points, given that Polonia created several dangerous opportunities and came close to securing a set of points. A draw against the third team in our league is a solid result.

The first quarter of the game belonged to the Polonists. They had an optical advantage over their opponents and maintained possession for more extended periods. Unfortunately, in the 10th minute, our goalkeeper, Mateusz Kuchta, fell awkwardly while intervening with his hand and had to leave the pitch prematurely. He was replaced by Jakub Lemanowicz, who had previously shown success in the cup performance against Wisła Kraków. Lemanowicz confirmed his good form with subsequent interventions, saving us from conceding a goal after shots by İlkay Durmuş and Daniel Dziwniel. In the later part, the hosts gained an advantage. Polonia responded with a well-struck shot by Krzysztof Koton in the closing moments of the first half, but the ball sailed over Gostomski’s goal.

In the second half, Polonia had the first promising opportunity after a shot by Michał Bajdur, but the midfielder’s attempt from a set piece just went above the crossbar of the hosts’ goal. Although the hosts had more opportunities later in the second half, it was Polonia who had the match ball in added time. In the hosts’ penalty box, Marcin Kluska struck from the goalkeeper; Gostomski defended his shot. Jakub Piątek attempted to follow up, but his shot narrowly missed over the crossbar of the goal.

Polonia Warszawa’s lineup: Kuchta (10. Lemanowicz) – Grudniewski, Kowalski-Haberek, Majsterek – Zawistowski, Koton, Marciniec (66. Ochronczuk), Biedrzycki – Bajdur (78. J. Piątek), Michalski (66. Kluska) – Kobusiński (77. Tomczyk).
