First team
For the 9th Time Against Łęczna. We’re Playing Górnik on Saturday.
Górnik Łęczna has yet to experience defeat in this league season. Despite numerous changes made over the summer, the “Pride of the Lublin Region” has maintained the high form they displayed in recent months, confidently holding third place in the table. Here’s what you need to know before Saturday’s #GKŁPOL.
This summer saw significant personnel changes for our opponent. A total of 16 players left Górnik, including Ilkay Durmus and Souleymane Cissé, who joined us at Konwiktorska 6. One of the league’s best goalkeepers, Maciej Gostomski, swapped Łęczna for Płock. Other notable departures include Damian Gąska (Warta Poznań) and Lukas Klemenz (GKS Katowice).
During the summer transfer window, Górnik brought in 15 new players, including David Ogaga, Adrian Kostrzewski, Branislav Pindroch, and Przemysław Banaszak, who returned to Łęczna after a year and a half in Uzbekistan.
Despite significant personnel changes and the loss of several key players, Górnik Łęczna remains unbeaten in this league season. The team from the Lublin region secured a 1-0 away victory against Stal Stalowa Wola and a 2-1 home win against Stal Rzeszów. In the last round, Pavol Stano’s team drew 1-1 with ŁKS in Łódź, salvaging a point in the final moments of the match.
“I was pleased with my team’s performance in the first half. After the break, we conceded an unfortunate goal and needed time to get back to playing well. After the red card, we went all out, and in the end, we managed to score the equalizer. We respect this point because it gives the team belief in the value of our work,” said coach Pavol Stano during the post-match press conference after the game with ŁKS Łódź.
So far, we have faced Górnik eight times, with a very balanced head-to-head record. Both teams have won three matches each, while two ended in a draw. On Saturday afternoon, we’ll try to get our revenge on Górnik for last season. The match in Łęczna ended in a goalless draw, while at #K6, we had to acknowledge the opponent’s superiority with a 0-2 loss.
The match against Górnik is scheduled for August 10 at 2:30 PM. The #GKŁPOL game will be broadcast on sport.tvp.pl and via the TVP Sport mobile app. Join us for a live viewing of the match at our sports bar, Czarna Koszula.
