On Friday (17.11) at 13:00, the Pride of the Capital will play a friendly match in Lodz against the local Łódź Sports Club, currently occupying the last place in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table. This match serves as our team’s attempt to seek redemption from the July friendly match, in which the Black Shirts team “Czarne Koszule” lost 2:6.

In the ongoing season of the top division, LKS has secured two victories, recorded two draws, and suffered eleven defeats, placing them at the bottom of the league table with only 8 points. However, the “Knights of Spring” are just seven points away from the safety zone, with upcoming matches against Zagłębie Lubin, Stal Mielec, Legia Warszawa, and Ruch Chorzów.

The team commenced the 2023/2024 season under Kazimierz Moskal, who was in charge until October 11 this year. Piotr Stokowiec, well-known at #K6, took over the team, having previously worked with the Pride of the Capital during the Ekstraklasa days.

In terms of goal-scoring, the footballers of Lodz Sporting Club show a preference for the last minutes of the match. Between the 76th and 90th minutes, the red-and-whites found the rival’s goal four times, constituting 37% of all goals scored by the team in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa.

The last 30 minutes have been challenging for LKS in terms of conceding goals. Goalkeeper Aleksander Bobek retrieved the ball from the net twelve times. Interestingly, in each of the three quarters of the first half, our closest rival conceded five goals.

The two teams last played each other in July this year as part of a summer preparatory camp. In a sparring match closed to the media and fans, we lost in Warsaw to a higher-ranked rival 2:6. Friday’s match will be an attempt at a rematch for the July clash.

After the representative break, Rafal Smalec’s team will travel to Opole for a match against table runner-up Odra (26.11. at 12:40).
