Drama, a hail of goals, a match holding in suspense until the last seconds. Sunday at Konwiktorska had everything that fans love. Everything, except a set of points, as Polonia’s clash with Lech II ended in a 3:3 draw. Our margin for error on the way to promotion shrank to microscopic size.

It was like in Hitchcock movies – it started with an earthquake, and then the tension only grew. That “earthquake” was a goal for Kolejorz. Filip Wilak already in the 5th minute banged from outside the penalty area in such a way that Jakub Lemanowicz had to pull the ball out of the net. The coach of Kolejorz’s second team, Artur Węsek, sent a mixture of youth and experience into battle. To the talented youngsters, he co-opted the experienced Szymon Pawłowski and Tomasz Cywka, as well as, playing in the first team on a daily basis, Giorgi Tsitaishvili, and this team performed very well in the first part of the game at Konwiktorska, pushing Polonia into defense for long stretches. –I’m very proud of how we presented ourselves, especially since the core of the team consisted of players from the 2006 and 2005 age groups – stressed the coach of the guests.

The first half looked bad, until former Lechita Paweł Tomczyk came to the fore. The new Polonia midfielder came out in the first line-up for the first time and bagged our rivals two goals, greeting the fans at Konwiktorska beautifully. – Of course, I’m emotionally connected with Lech, but now I play for Polonia and my heart beats for her. I’m happy with the goals, but feel unsatisfied with the result – the Black Shirts’ sniper told us.

Unfortunately, reversing the result was not enough to go come down for the break with a favorable result. In the 36th minute, Polonia led 2:1, only to lose 2:3 six minutes later. Our players’ lack of concentration was exploited by the experienced Pawłowski and for the second time by Wilak. – This first half was disastrous in our performance, and we have no right to play football like this. I take the blame for this on myself. For the second half we came out changed and we should have won it –emphasized Rafał Smalec.

After the break, it was indeed Polonia who completely dominated. Unfortunately, this translated into only one goal, scored by the introduced to the pitch Mateusz Michalski. The split points are certainly more pleasing for Lech than for the Black Shirts, whose situation in the table is getting more complicated, and a difficult trip to Puławy coming up next week. Inconsolable after the final whistle was Rafał Smalec, who saw a red card for his discussion with the referee, Karol Iwanowicz from Lublin. At the post-match conference, he devoted many words to this situation. – From the beginning of the match, the referees shouted at us all the time, it was impossible to say anything to them because they threatened us with cards. They demand respect, and they don’t have it themselves. We will make a complaint about my card, which I saw only for telling the referee that he made a mistake when assessing the situation involving Mateusz Michalski – explained the coach, referring to the evident, not whistled foul on our midfielder, which took place on the border of the penalty area at the end of the match.

We would like to thank you for cheering, as well as the 324 new fans who came to the match as part of the Open Stadium and Buddies from the Stand actions. We hope that you will be regulars at K6, and that this exciting spectacle will remain in your memory for a long time.
