  • A key win in Puławy. Polonia has its talisman?
Publication date: 25.03.2023

Six matches, four wins and two draws – this is the balance of Rafał Smalec’s assistant, Maciej Wesołowski, in matches in which he performed the duties of Polonia’s first coach. Due to the suspension of the head coach, it was he who ruled on the bench of the Black Shirts in Puławy, and our team won 2:0 on a difficult ground after goals by Michał Bajdura and Wojciech Fadecki. – A very important victory. I hope that now it’s time for a series of consecutive wins – smiled Bajdur, for whom it was the premiere hit in our colors.

The key moment of the match was the end of the first half. Before that, the match was fairly even, and the game was played mainly in the middle pitch zone. Until the moment when our new forward Paweł Tomczyk took off with the ball in the middle, rushed to the rivals’ goal, and when he was about to direct the ball into the goal, he was fouled right before the penalty area. The consequences for the hosts were very serious– a red card for Łukasz Wiech and a 1:0 goal for the Black Shirts scored directly from a free kick by Michał Bajdura. – A long time ago I promised fans that after scoring the first goal I will change my social media profile picture to one in which I am wearing a Polonia T-shirt. Now, to be true to my words, get some nice pics ready – the midfielder told us.

A goal to the locker room, coupled with playing in ten, broke Wisła Puławy. In the second part of the match, only our team existed on the pitch. The match could have ended with a much higher win, but we managed to add one goal – after a foul on himself, the penalty kick was used in cold blood by Wojciech Fadecki. Although the result could have been even more impressive, the meeting was dictated entirely by the confidently playing Polonia. Thanks to the set of points, we managed to overtake Znicz Pruszków in the table, which succumbed 0:1 to Olimpia Elbląg. The situation in the table is still very even, but this victory allows us to confidently look to the future.

– Am I a talisman? I think that’s a good word. First of all, however, I would like to emphasize the role of the entire staff, coach Smalec as the boss and Maks Hołownia, whose analyses give us a lot. I like to talk to the media, to lead the team, but I don’t forget that it is Rafał who is the most important. The win makes us very, very happy. We are also pleased with how much our arrival in various cities spurs the local fans, who further motivate us with their mobilization. Kotwica Kołobrzeg certainly didn’t generate as much interest in Puławy as Polonia did. It’s time for a series of wins and climbing up the table – emphasized Maciej Wesołowski.

Next week, in front of our own audience, we will face Hutnik Kraków. The match will take place on Saturday, April 1st, at 5 p.m. Here you can BUY A TICKET FOR THE MATCH. We would also like to remind you about our ongoing action OPEN STADIUM – free tickets for new fans. Welcome to K6!
